This study attempts to emphasize the need for a new reading of the classical poetry, which is characterized by the multitude of interpretations and interpretations-- a new reading which presents the text as a linguistic system open to different levels of analysis and re-synthesis. Having a structural inclination toward poetic images and meanings, this study relies on numerous forms both visible and invisible within the body of the poetic text, that are infered from the differences between the form and the content, a fact which grants the text a controversial nature. In addition, this study sheds light on the cultural milieu of the pagan poet, al-Muthaqqab al-Abdi, as expressed in the deep recesses of his poems and underlies his whole work. This research aims at studying the forms of the existential conflicts in the poetry of al-Muthaqqab al-Abdi in the light of a textual study that depends basically on the visible and invisible forms that reflects the poet''s existential internal conflicts. Following a scrutiny of some selected poems, this study reveals that researchers of traditional poetry cannot investigate any of its numerous artistic aspects unless they refer to the forms dealing with existence or non-existence.

Contrastive dualities are linguistic structures with both overlaps and contrasts in meaning and pronunciation. This difference brings about creativity and beauty in the poems. Because of the poetic structure of the poem, it is a translation of the psychological state of the poet and his internal feelings. Duality is the term which refers to the connection between separate phenomena. These dualities result from dual feelings awakened in the poet, which include: feelings toward self and feelings toward the dominance of others over the poets’ self. The poet expresses these two types of feelings in this poetry in the form of images. These images form the basis of this study. The most important include: immortality/destruction, connection /separation, return/departure, light/darkness, and life/death. These contrasts may complement each other but one is not important without the other member of pair. This research is a new investigation dealing with poetic examples of some of the poets of long poems. It analyzes and interprets them by going to the depth of poetic structures. This is done by tracing the contradictory dualities in texts which in turn, is done by revealing symbols, and sings for these dualities in the light of their psychological dimensions.

This research deals with the application of the mythological method to pre-Islamic poetry which includes mythological images and legendary dimensions resulting from the imagination of the pagan poets and aesthetically interwoven with the linguistic structures. The research also aims to underline the efficiency of the mythological method for analyzing poetic texts and revealing their mythological dimensions created by the poet's imagination, in chronological stages. Illustrated by poetic texts we depic these stages in the pagan poetry as follows:1. departure 2. journey and loss 3. searching for indentity The aim of this research is to present the my thological and philosophical aspect of the images which convey the poetic sense and to determine the validity of the application of this method on the pagan poetry.
