For a long time, the vibration modeling of gear systems was based on the linear vibration theory. However, in the last decades, the nonlinear factors such as backlash, time varying mesh stiffness, friction, transmission error and other imperfections have been taken into account. The aim of this paper is to investigate the nonlinear vibration of spur gear in presence of clearance and the static transmission error. To this end, first the time varying mesh stiffness of tooth is calculated analytically. Then the Governing equations of motion are extracted and are solved through Runge-Kutta method and the effect of the system parameters on its nonlinear vibrational behavior is demonstrated.

In the present study, considering the geometric nonlinearity, the nonlinear vibration behavior of a carbon nanotube conveying fluid embedded in an elastic medium is studied. The fluid passing through the nanotube is considered to be inviscid and incompressible. Using the Rayleigh’s elastic theory, the governing equation of motion is derived. By considering a suitable parameter, the governing equation is converted to a form which can be solved by the perturbation method. Applying the Lindstedt-Poincare’ method, the time response, the nonlinear resonance frequencies and the fluid critical velocity of the nanotube are obtained. The accuracy of the results is investigated by comparing them with those obtained through the numerical method. Unlike previous researches, the analytical relation for the fluid critical velocity is obtained considering the effect of the geometric nonlinearity. The results indicate that, as the fluid velocity increases and reaches a critical value, the time response amplitude grows without limit and the nanotube loses stability. Moreover, in comparison with the linear and small-amplitude vibrations of nanotube, by increasing the amplitude of oscillations, nonlinear behavior dominates and the instability occurs at a higher fluid velocity.

In recent years, consumption of stimulant substances compared to alcohol and drugs has been very popular, but still vast investigation on the impact of the stimulant substance abuse on the driving behavior has not been conducted. This article provides a method to identify the behavior of drivers that have used amphetamines. In this method, 16 healthy professional Scania bus drivers and as many as 6 drivers addicted to amphetamines in the Nasir Scania bus driving simulator have been examined and performed practical tests. The scenario chosen for the driving in the simulator was of the “car following” type. In order to analyze the behavior of healthy drivers and the ones addicted to amphetamines, the delay time for each driver and some other safety factors such as the time to collision, THDW, unsafe density, and also the longitudinal distances between the leading and the following car were collected using variables taken from the driving simulator. Then an adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) has been designed to separate information for healthy people and addicted to amphetamines. Finally, the driving behavior evaluated using GHR model and the then compared to the performance of the designed ANFIS system. The result shows that the designed ANFIS system has a performance much better than GHR model and can distinguish between the amphetamines addicted drivers and healthy one and identify them with the accuracy of 97%.

In this paper, a new algorithm is presented for the swarm behavior of robots in order to initially aggregate the swarm in its center and subsequently move toward a given target point. Since the equation representing the swarm movement is based on Lagrange equations, the member of the swarm take the shortest distance to reach their destination providing that the amount of energy found in above-mentioned algorithm is minimized. In addition, assuming that there are obstacles on the path of the swarm movement, the algorithm applies a linear repulsive force, activated by a switch, to avoid the contact between the members and obstacles. Finally, the presented equations are simulated and validated through MATLAB software. The results obtained from the swarm behavior of robots are simulated on the basis of the algorithm, and the optimized behavior of the algorithm is shown when the amount of energy is minimized and there is no contact with the obstacle.

In this paper, buckling analysis of thick functionally graded rectangular plates is investigated based on the higher-order shear and normal deformable plate theory. According to this theory, all three displacement components are expanded by Legendre function of thickness direction. Stability equations are obtained using the principle of minimum total potential energy and the adjacent equilibrium criterion. Finally the stability equations are solved analytically for a plate with all edges simply supported using Navier solution and the critical buckling load is obtained. Comparing the results shows a good accuracy of the presented solution. Consequently, the effects of loading conditions, aspect ratio, thickness and material properties on the critical buckling load are investigated in detail.
