In this paper, we improve the performance of the TiR-UWB communication systems with the non-ideal estimation of the channel. Time Reversal (TiR) technique is an effective and simple method for data transmission in extremely multipath indoor UWB channels that mitigates the complexity of receiver by its own time focusing feature. Although, TiR method has the suitable performance, but it is sensitive to the non-ideal channel estimation error. Most of the previous researches have assumed the ideal estimation of the channel for the performance study. In this letter, we have designed an improved TiR-based pre-filter by the estimation error covariance of the channel. Furthermore, it is indicated analytically that the designed pre-filter depends on the existent channel estimation error covariance. The improvement of performance of proposed method as well retaining time focusing of TiR technique is demonstrated by using of simulation.

In this paper, a detailed mathematical model of a grid-connected micro-grid including wind-turbine, photo voltaic cells, CHP and Fuel Cell with respective uncertainties in electrical loads, thermal loads, PV and wind outputs are presented. Moreover, the effects of the considered uncertainties on the micro-grid’s operation cost are modeled as risk and this risk is reduced using Monte-Carlo simulation through the battery and heat storage systems, separated into dynamic and static capacities. The dynamic capacity reduces the operation cost risk and the static capacity reduces the main (or expected) operation cost.

This paper presents the application of immune algorithm to find optimal location and sizing for distributed generation (DG) sources and static series voltage regulator (SSVR) in distribution networks. The proposed objective function for this allocation includes investment costs and profits accrued from reduced losses and also included is a set of quality indexes that show the status of voltage، current and active and reactive power losses. Simulations are performed on IEEE 33-bus and 69-bus test systems for comparing results. Optimal placement of DG and SSVR employed here substantially reduced power loss and improved the voltage profile. Also، over a period of approximately 7 years، profits accrued from loss reduction alone are found to be greater than the investment، maintenance and consequent interest costs.

In this paper, a 24-pulse ac-dc converter is designed, modeled and simulated based on a fork autotransformer to improve power quality indices. The use of autotransformer results in reduced kVA rating of the proposed topology as compared with the transformer based 24-pulse converter. Due to the proper flexibility of the proposed topology, it can be simply utilized in other similar applications. Also the proposed converter has a better performance in power quality improvements as compared with the transformer based 24-pulse converters. Whereas the total harmonic current distortion for the given converter is between 2% in light load to 5% at full load, the same index in regular transformer based 24-pulse converter is varied from 4% to 8%. In this paper various power quality indices and kVA rating resulting in total construction cost of the 24-pulse transformer/ autotransformer based converters are compared. The investigated converters used in induction motor drive systems are modeled and simulated using multi-winding transformer block of Matlab/Simulink software. Simulation results confirmed that power quality indices related to the proposed converter are similar to those achieved by fork transformer based converter but better than existing transformer based converters, indicating its ability to fulfill the criteria required by IEEE 519 standard (THDi < 5%) under various loading conditions. Also, power factor reaches near unity under various ranges of converter operation. The kVA rating for the 24-pulse fork transformer based converter is about 146.62% of the nominal load rating comparing with 87.12% of the proposed converter topology resulting in reduced size, weight and finally cost of the proposed converter with respect to the conventional transformer based 24-pulse converters.

In a daily power market, price and load forecasting is the most important signal for the market participants. In this paper, an accurate feed-forward neural network model with a genetic optimization levenberg-marquardt back propagation (LMBP) training algorithm is employed for short-term nodal congestion price forecasting in different zones of a large-scale power market. The use of genetic algorithms for neural network training optimization has had a remarkable effect on the accuracy of price forecasting in a large-scale power market. The necessary data for neural network training are obtained by solving optimal power flow equations that take into account all effective constraints at any hour of the day in a single month. The structure of the neural network has two input signals of active and reactive powers for every load busbar in every hour of the programming model. These two signals are always available. In this study, an IEEE 118-bus power system is to test the proposed method authenticity. This system is divided into three zones, and a neural network with a genetic algorithm training optimization is employed for every zone. Simulation results show the ability of the proposed method in forecasting the nodal congestion price and its severity in a large-scale power market with a rather low and acceptable error, especially at points of price spikes.

Restructuring of power systems have introduced new challenges for operators, Suppliers and customer. In the new environment, special attention should be paid to losses and allocating it to market participants. Various strategies for loss allocation have been introduced in the past decade. Most of these methods rely on time consuming calculations. On the other hand, calculation time of loss allocation for a pool system is not crucial. The calculation time together with the accuracy of the method may become very important for bilateral contracts specially those taking place in power exchange. In this paper, a new approach for accurate estimation of losses allocated to various transactions is proposed. The method is based on utilization of a multilayer perceptron neural network. To investigate the accuracy of the method, it has been applied to IEEE 14-bus test system. The estimated values have been compared with those obtained through direct calculation. The results confirm the accuracy as well as the speed of the proposed algorithm.

One of the ways of reducing active power losses in the distribution networks is using the network reconfiguration for different load levels. Since the number of possible configuration of a distribution network is usually very much and then review of all of them (especially in the network of large-scale) to finding the optimal configuration is not possible simply, therefore in this paper a new algorithm based on the graph theory and the its developed algorithms are presented for the reconfiguration of distribution networks. The proposed algorithm start with a meshed distribution system which obtains by considering all switches closed. The distribution system models as a super graph and proportionate weights to losses are attributed to each branch of this graph. Due to the nature of reconfiguration operations, the most important factor in the distribution networks is to reach the optimal configuration in the shortest possible time. The developed algorithms of graph theory have appropriate speed and considering that the number of load flow calculation in the proposed algorithm is little as compared to other methods. Therefore the proposed algorithm of this paper, as compared to other methods has good speed in reaching the desired optimum. The proposed algorithm has been implemented on the sample distribution networks. The obtained results show superiority and efficiency of proposed algorithm as compared to with other methods.
