The meaning and concept of the word rushd (= maturity, probity, certitude) in the stories of the Holy Qur'ān has been stated within nineteen verses which can be thematically divided into three major parts: the verses concerning the holy prophet of Islam (S.A.W.) and his umma (community of followers) – who possess the attributes and deeds of the rāshidūn (guided ones) –; the verses concerning the Divine Prophets such as Abraham, Lot, Jethro and Moses (A.S.); and the verses concerning the stories of the believers including the believers among the people of Pharaoh, Men of the Cave, and the believers among mankind and the jinn. In this research, first the verses concerning rushd in the Holy Quran are extracted and then thematically categorized. In the verses chronological order has been observed concerning the stories of the Prophets; and in order to clarify the concept of these verses, other verses are also employed. After categorizing, the meaning and concept as well as various applications of this word is examined. Making use of different Sunnite and Shī‘ite interpretations together has enriched this research.

The story of the creation of the first human being has been an important element in the culture and faith of most of the world's nations. This story plays a significant role in modern man's culture and way of thinking. The present article incorporates a comparative research in Islamic and Jewish texts on one of the components of this story, i.e., the place from which Adam's clay was taken and by which he was created. To this end, a number of Jewish and Islamic texts were compared in order to specify what similarities and differences these texts have with each other, which ideas are exclusive to Islamic texts or to the Jewish ones, and which ideas are probably transferred from the Jewish texts or folklore to the Islamic traditions and literature. This article aims at resolving the ambiguities existing in some of the traditions, as well.

Ikhwān al-Ṣafā's opinions and viewpoints about the nature of religion and their esoteric interpretations on the Qur'ānic verses have drawn the attention of a group of thinkers, in particular, the interpreters of the Qur'ān. A number of interpreters have been influenced by the esoteric viewpoints of Ikhwān al-Ṣafā and have directly or indirectly employed their opinions. Although Ikhwān al-Ṣafā have not viewed resorting to the apparent meaning of the Qur'ānic verses for understanding them and regard esoteric exegesis of the verses as essential, they have not deemed as permissible any type of esoteric exegesis and have strongly opposed to many such interpreters, particularly the Mu‘tazilites. The writer has tried in this article to study the esoteric-interpretive viewpoints of Ikhwān al-Ṣafā concerning the verses of the Qur'ān as well as the impact of their opinions on the interpreters.

Muḥammad b. Ḥasan Ṭūsī, also known as Shaykh Ṭūsī, (b. 460/1067) and Aḥmad b. ‘Alī Najāshī (b. 450/1058) are two of the well-known Shī‘a scholars, each having one or more works in ‘ilm al-rijāl (science dealing with transmitters of ḥadīth). Shaykh Ṭūsī's Al-Rijāl and Al-Fihrist and Najāshī's Fihrist Asmā’ Muṣannifī al-Shī‘a are included among the main Shī‘ī rijālī books. In this paper, we intend to survey the advantages of Najāshī's Fihrist over Shaykh Ṭūsī's Fihrist and Rijāl from various viewpoints and evaluate the connection or lack of connection between Najāshī's Fihrist and Ṭūsī's Fihrist and Rijāl and vice versa.

The tenor of the Qur'ānic verses and the Imam (A.S.)'s traditions suggest that the holy Prophet (S.A.W.) has been quite passive in receiving the Divine Revelation and is regarded as being trustworthy to God in receiving and conveying His Words. Thus, both the verses and the traditions are unanimous in confirming the revelation of the words and meanings of the Qur'ān to the last of the Divine Messengers, implying that the supposition of the holy Prophet (S.A.W.)'s interference with the creation of the words of the Qur'ān overtly contradicts the verses and traditions. What endorse this view are as follows: consideration of the two distinct propagative and explicatory status of the holy Prophet (S.A.W.); the verses that consider the Holy Qur'ān as revealed in Arabic language and express it as the "Word of Allah"; the verses that talk about the reading and recitation of the Qur'ān to the holy Prophet (S.A.W.); the verses that distinguish the Word of Allah from the word of the Messenger and at the same time give validity to both; the verses that indicate the Qur'ān as being revealed by these same extant words; the verses that views the speech of the Revelation angel as a tool for conveying the Qur'ānic verses to the Prophet (S.A.W.); and the traditions that consider the Qur'ān, Divine traditions (ḥadīth qudsī), and Prophetic traditions as having independent identity.

In some Sunnī ḥadīth sources there are traditions related about the disbelief of Abū Ṭālib which are known as ḍaḥḍāḥ traditions. It is clarified by examining the sanad of these traditions that they are not valid in sanad as well as being contradictory with one another in content. On the other hand, the content of these traditions contradicts the verses of the Qur'ān that assert: the punishment of the disbelievers shall not be lightened and the intercession of others will not avail them.Similarly, they are in conflict with the Islamic traditions that say: the Prophet's intercession will only include the Muslims. Apart from that, considering the historical facts such as: Fāṭima daughter of Asad being a Muslim and that she had been the eleventh Muslim, having sworn allegiance to the Prophet, and having remained Abū Ṭālib's wife till the end of her life; the Prophet having ordered to perform funeral ablution (ghusl) for Abū Ṭālib's body; and that Mu‘āwiya has not made use of these traditions as weak points of the household of ‘Alī (A.S.), all indicate that ḍaḥḍāḥ traditions have not been issued by the Prophet (S.A.W.). Furthermore, in respect to the intense rivalry between the Abbasids and the household of ‘Alī (A.S.), the all-out efforts of the Abbasids to eliminate the household of ‘Alī (A.S.) from the political arena, the violent conflict of Manṣūr Dawāniqī with the household of ‘Alī (A.S.), and the historical documents, there remains no doubt that these traditions have been fabricated in the Abbasid period by Manṣūr Dawāniqī.
