    Introduction
Type II diabetes is a chronic disease that causes many economic and social costs all over the world. Currently, different genes are known to have associations with diabetes, one of which is CYP3A4 gene on chromosome 7. This gene belongs the largest number of substrates regarding cytochrome p450 enzymes. CYP3A4 gene is found in endoplasmic reticulum of all tissues except brain; however, the main source of its protein accumulates in the liver and prostate. The main purpose of the present study is to investigate whether there is any predictable associations between specific variants of CYP3A4 gene and type II diabetes.
    Materials and Methods
In this case-control study, 100 blood samples of healthy individuals as well as 100 blood samples of patients referring to diabetes clinic of Ali Asghar in Zahedan were collected. DNA extraction was performed using phenol-chloroform method combined with proteinase K. The determination of individuals' genotype was done by a sequencing method.
    Results
The results of the study showed no significant differences (causing to alter protein conformation) between DNA samples of type two diabetic patients and those of healthy samples in terms of nucleotide sequence in CYP3A4 gene.
    Conclusion
With regard to the statistical analysis of the results, it can be concluded that there is no associations between SNPs in CYP3A4 gene and the risk of type II diabetes in the population of Sistan and Baluchestan province in Iran

    Introduction
Crataegus monogyna is a rich source of flavonoids with antioxidant and neuroprotective properties. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of Crataegus monogyna extract on anxiety, depression, and pain in diabetic rats.
    Materials and Methods
Intraperitoneal injection of a single dose of streptozotocin (60 mg/kg) was used to induce diabetes in rats. After observing the symptoms of diabetes 72 h post-injection (i.e., weight loss, an increase of over 250 mg/dl in blood glucose level, and polydipsia), the rats were subjected to treatments using extract and drug for 3 weeks. The animals were divided into six groups, including healthy control (normal saline), diabetic control (streptozotocin), intervention (Crataegus monogyna extract at doses of 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg), and positive control (capitrile). Behavioral tests were performed on the subjects after 3 weeks.
    Results
The administration of Crataegus monogyna extract to diabetic rats resulted in an insignificant decrease in the number of entries and the time spent in the open arms of the elevated plus maze (P>0.05). The induction of diabetes significantly reduced the ability to maintain balance and motor resistance in the rotarod test (P<0.05), and Crataegus monogyna extract improved these effects; however, the difference was not significant. The frequency of being centered on open plate test in the diabetic rats received Crataegus monogyna extract was higher than that of the other diabetic rats; nonetheless, the difference was not significant. The response time to pain was reduced in diabetic rats, and the Crataegus monogyna extract insignificantly increased this time (P>0.05).
    Conclusion
As the findings indicated, Crataegus monogyna extract could partially improve anxiety, depression, pain, and imbalance in diabetic rats. It seems that the administration of higher doses would improve the efficiency of this extract in this regard

    Introduction
Diabetes as one of the serious problems in the health system is known as the silent death. An effective way to examine patients with diabetes is to evaluate self-care behaviors. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate self-care behaviors and related factors in diabetic patients referring to the diabetes clinic in Saravan, Iran, in 2017.
    Materials and Methods
The population of this descriptive analytic study consisted of 80 patients with diabetes type 2 referring to the diabetes clinic in Saravan selected by census method. Data were collected through demographic form and self-care behavior questionnaire. Data analysis was performed in SPSS (version 23) using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, and ANOVA.
    Result
self-care mean and standard deviation were 37.87±12.03, respectively. The findings showed that patients had low, moderate, and high levels of self-care behaviors (i.e. 62.5%, 32.5%, and 3.8%, respectively). Variables, such as levels of education and job status, correlated directly with self-care behaviors (P<0/05).
    Conclusion
The findings showed that the majority of patients indicated a moderate level of self-care. Therefore, it is suggested to improve self-care behavior by offering educational programs to raise the patients’ consciences regarding the importance of self-care behavior in controlling and alleviating the complication of diabetes

Adolescence is one of the most critical periods of life, and if a teenager faces health problems, it can be a challenge for all members of the family. Attention to spiritual needs is among the components of a healthy life. However, adolescents with chronic diseases take inefficient attitudes. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the relationship between spiritual attitude and ineffective attitude in diabetic adolescents in hospitals affiliated to Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Shiraz, Iran.
    Materials and Method
This descriptive and analytic study was performed among 92 adolescents with diabetes admitted to the hospitals affiliated to Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in 2015. The subjects were selected using convenience sampling method. Data were collected using a questionnaire about religious and inefficient attitudes. The study population was observed and evaluated for 3 months. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics and correlation coefficients in SPSS software, version 20.
    Results
Based on the results, 47 and 45 participants were male and female, respectively. The mean ages of females and males were 16.84 and 15.56 years old, respectively. In this study, most of the participants had finished either guidance school (40%) or high school (45%). The spiritual attitude of diabetic adolescents was moderate and inefficient attitude was more. There was an indirect relationship between spiritual attitudes and ineffective thinking in adolescents with diabetes. There was no significant difference between genders in terms of spiritual and ineffective attitude.
    Conclusion
Spiritual attitude had an indirect relationship with inefficient attitude, and as a result reduces the level of anxiety in diabetic adolescents. In fact, spiritual attitude positively affects the inefficient attitude in this population. Therefore, it is recommended to consider programs in diabetes centers to improve the spiritual attitude in this sensitive group

    Introduction

Diabetes is one the most common diseases caused by metabolic disorders and being a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, it is one of the most important public health problems. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of eight weeks of concurrent (aerobic-resistance) training on beta-endorphin and leptin levels in inactive women with type II diabetes.

    Materials and Methods

We enrolled 13 postmenopausal women with type II diabetes (age: 57.92 ± 5.72 years and fat percentage: 43.17 ± 3.55) as the experimental group and nine postmenopausal women with type II diabetes as the control group (age: 55.14 ± 2.73 years, Fat percentage: 41.31 ± 3.38). The aerobic training program included 20 minutes of aerobic activity (by 60 to 80% of maximum heart rate) and the strength training program involved several upper and lower extremities (with an intensity of 55 to 75% of 1RM, 8 to 12 repetitions). To investigate the changes within and between groups repeated measures analysis of variance was used. P-value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant.

    Results

A significant increase was found in β-endorphin and leptin levels, VO2max, and strength, while body mass index (BMI) and body fat percentage (BF%) had significantly decreased (P < 0.05).

    Conclusion

Considering that concurrent training induced a significant reduction in BMI and BF% and increased β-endorphin and leptin levels, it may decrease the risk of cardiovascular diseases in type II diabetes patients
