As a conscious being, human is not more aware of any other affair than of themself. Awareness of objects for a human is subordinate to awareness of themself. In this self-awareness, human is constantly thinking about themself and the possibility of forgetting themself is unimaginable. However, one of the verses of the Quran points out self-oblivion of human beings. The cause of this self-oblivion is forgetting something else; when a human forgets Allah, they fall into self-oblivion. In expounding on this teaching, philosophers on one hand, and interpreters on the other have conducted some studies. This paper draws on the explanations provided by MullaSadra and AllamehTabataba’iwho are endowed with the knowledge of philosophy and interpretation. Besides, there has been an attempt to establish a relationship between self-oblivion as free will, and misdeed; a relationship which results from consigning Allah, who is associated with the source and extremity every good and pure deed, to oblivion.

From one perspective, language, in general can be divided into oral or spoken and written. One kind of oral or spoken language is rhetorical language; that is, a style of discourse which is popular among preachers and orators. From another perspective, language can be divided into common and special conventions. This paper intends to investigate AyatullahMa’efat’s theory that language of the Quran is oral and rhetorical. In some readings, he regards the language of the Quran as a common convention and in some others as a special convention, and of course, he does not observe any conflicts between the twohence treating them as one entity. In the last years of his life, AyatullahMa’refat described the language of the Quran as oral or spoken; to put it precisely the described the language of the Quran as rhetorical. Yet, it seems that he does not find any conflicts between language as a common convention and rhetorical language. After all, some the most important characteristics of rhetorical language that he mentions are the reliance on the mental backgrounds of the audience, the existence of apostrophe and transition, and mentioning external realities.

In order to attest to the rightfulness of the Islam’s Holy prophet (PBUH) in claiming the gift of prophecy and the divineness of the Quran, the Holy Quran has cited the absence of contradictions in itself (Surah An-Nisa’, Verse 82), but can the negation of contradictions be asa reason for the divineness of this book? What sort of a reason is this? Are there necessarily contradictions in books written by human beings? What is it meant by contradictions? Is this issue one of the forms of miracles, or is it considered an independent reason by itself? And …Researchers have expressed different views on this verse, such as on the meaning of contradiction, the source of contradictions, the predecessors’ wording of this proposition, the opponents of this form of miracle and…This article, through considering and exploring the issues mentioned above, allays one of the recent suspicions about contradictions in the verses associated with repentance.

The verse 106 of Surah Al-Baqarah and the verse 101 of Surah An-Nahl are known as abrogated verses, and the well-known interpretation associates these verses to the issue of the abrogation of laws. In light the author’s perception of the “divine verses” that are considered to have theological/theistic functions, this paper makes an attempt to reread the abrogation verses in their contexts. Based on this, these Quranic pieces announce that (special) persuasive verses to have been abandoned and replaced by other kinds of verses. In light of this interpretation, some of the obscure aspects of these Quranic pieces become clear and criticisms levelled at this interpretation are resolved. Next, this paper investigates the reasons for the prohibition of the revelation of persuasive verses in the Quran. As a result of this rereading, one dimension of conflicting discourses was revealed. The discourses which were popular in the late Meccan period during which there was a quarrelsome dispute between the Prophet (PBUH) and his opponents over the revelation of persuasive verses, which was eventually met with the Quran’s decisive reaction that has ruled the revelation of those verses out. Furthermore, this study clarifies why the Holy Quran considers profane the request of the followers of the Quran and believers to reveal a special verse.

Every Quranic word holds one or several conventional, lexical, orcanonical meanings which, in methodology, are referred to as conventional truth, lexical truth, and canonical truth. The source of the lexical truth is imposition. The source of the canonical truth is designating or specifying a term whose meaning is in the lawgiver’s mind, and the source of conventional truth is the contracts and agreements among people on the use of certain terms with certain meanings. Some terms, perhaps, are capable of carrying all three kinds the aforementioned truth. In the case of the absence of an equivalent for these words, which meaning should they carry? This paper aims to study different aspects of the variety of meanings of Quranic words and designating a proper meaning to a word from among the three given meanings.Among these, the conventional truth enjoys more validity due to the necessity of the similarity of the language of the Quran to that of the audience, and when one is in doubt as to which meaning a word carries, in case there is not equivalent for any of the truths, the conventional truth is of the highest priority. This claim is shown by, first, by giving an introduction on the definition of the three kinds of truth and adding the “Quranic truth” to them and then reasoning based on some Quranic verses.

One of the challenging issues raised in the Holy Quran isprophetMoses’ severe manner toward prophet Aaron after the Israelites converted to calf worship. Throughout the analysis of this manner so far, a lot of justifications have been offered; However, AyatullahMa’refat has attempted to analyze this sort of manner, proving Aaron to have some degrees of fault. By proving Moses’ wrath to be natural, he accounts on Moses’s efforts to punish and reform the Israelites. So as to discover who brought about this aberration, Moses first blames Aaron since he was the leader of the Israelites at the time, and every authority should be responsible in such cases. Although Aaron offered his excuses, these were not adequate to totally exonerate him of any blame. Therefore, Moses prayed to Allah for forgiveness. This viewpoint enjoys some positive points such as consideration of Moses’ statesmanship, of the normality of his wrath, and of his actions to punish and reform the Israelites; the most important ambiguity, nonetheless, is to prove Aaron’s fault concerning Moses’ pray to Allah for Aaron’s forgiveness.
