Entry of density current into dam's reservoirs leads to reduce the useful life of the dam and reduce or even eliminate the volume of water regulation and the loss of profits from flood control and power generation. One of the methods for controlling density current is the creation of barriers before the main reservoir of the dam. In this study, the effect of three bed slopes and arrangement of permeable barriers with six different types of layout on front height, forward velocity and Densitometric Froude number of high concentrations has been investigated. Experiments were performed in a channel of 10 meters in length and in three slopes of zero, one and two percent with similar convergent arrangement, similar divergent, parallel, z-shaped, Zigzags and checkered at two concentrations of 40 and 80 g / l, respectively. According to the results, the arrangement of similar convergent, checkered, similar divergent, zigzag, parallel and Z-shaped had the most effect on the hydraulic flow characteristics of the density current. The effect of different arrangement of the barriers on the hydraulic characteristics of the density current in a bed without sloping is more than the sloping bed, and also the effect of the arrangement of barriers in the critical current range is greatly reduced. The slightest effect of the obstacles on the bed without sloping is due to the similar convergent arrangement, which has reduced the Densitometric Froude number by 65%, and the effect of this arrangement on the sloping bed (the slop is 2%) has reached to 19% .The least effect of the arrangement is related to the barriers of the z-shaped arrangement. In this arrangement, the decrease in the Densitometric Froude number in the bed without sloping has been 50%, and this value with an increase in the bed slope (by 2%) has reached to 16%.

In this paper, the location of the phreatic curve, the effects of the reservoir water level fluctuations and change of upstream and downstream slope on the phreatic curve, the water pore pressure and the safety factor of the dam body were analyzed after simulating the Panzdahe Khordad dam applying FLAC software. The safety factor reached 1.54 and 1.69 due to an increase in the slope of the upstream and downstream as much as 5 and 10 degrees respectively, at a constant level of water. And due to a decrease in the upstream and downstream as much as the same amount, the safety factor dropped down to 1.39 and 1.30 respectively. With an increase of the water level, the pore pressure and the possibility of the existence of phreatic line increased. Besides, a larger area of the body was saturated and with the development of the plastic zone, the safety factor dropped to 1.01. The results of this research indicate that with a decrease of the embankment volume, the safety factor declined dramatically which can sabotage the stability of the dam with regards to the annual water level fluctuations in upstream. Therefore, the current slope of the dam is adequate.

In most research, 2D models based on plane strain theory are applied for design, analysis and parametric studies of soil nailed walls and the 3D effects of trench geometry is disregarded in many cases and 2D results are generalized for 3D conditions which may lead to either unsafe design or conservative and uneconomical design. In the current study, The restrictive effects of adjacent walls in corner of nailed soil trench that are perpendicular to the main nailed wall are studied on its behavior. a soil nailed rectangular trench is modeled, full scale, in PLAXIS 3D Foundation software and the results of the critical section are compared with the results of PLAXIS 2D. In other word, the adjacent walls behave such as lateral supports and restrict the soil nailed wall deformations. The results show that the deformations of 2D analysis are always greater than those of 3D analysis. The results also show that if the length of soil nailed wall (L) is less than 10H, amount of restrictive effects are more and if L is greater than 10H the result of 2D analysis can be generalized to 3D conditions.

In the present research, USBR stilling basin Types I, II and III were simulated numerically after validation by physical model data. Regarding position of forming hydraulic jump in each type, hydrodynamic parameters such as pressure, velocity vorticity and turbulence intensity were compared and analyzed in three standard stilling basins. RNG, VOF and FAVOR models were used to simulate turbulent, free surface and solid faces, respectively. Results showed that the performance of USBR Type III and II are greater than Type I, due to significant influence of chute blocks in Type III and end sill in Type II stilling basin. Presence of obstacles during jump had little effect on the turbulence intensity but reduced turbulence in the tail water. Therefore, turbulence in the tail water of stilling basin Type II and Type III was reduced about 11.76% and 26.72%, respectively in comparison with Type I stilling basin which caused to reduce the damage in the downstream. Vorticity in Type II was about 98% and 66.6% lower than Types I and III, respectively. In tail water of this stilling basis this parameter was about zero. Moreover, stilling basin Type II reduced the energy of flow more than Type I and Type III.

Input parameters for design of underground openings are not defined properly, such as rock mass parameters and deformation modulus. Available uncertainty in these parameters is intrinsic or misunderstanding of these parameters. To quantify these parameters to design underground openings it must be utilized the statistical methods. In this research, it is used a statistical method to define GSI of rock mass, block volume and joint conditions. By using GSI distribution function obtained from field data and intact strength characteristics, statistical distribution function of rock mass parameters (deformation modulus and shear strength parameters) are defined with the use of Monte Carlo method.
