Analysis of the basis and methods of Shia exegesis

“Sheism and the Quran” is one of the articles of the encyclopedia of the Quran which contains subject like principles and methods of Shia exegesis, role of the infallible Imams in Quranic interpretations, variant readings, narratives of alteration of Quran, introducing of prominent interpreters and Shia interpretations.The author of the article as an orientalist has doubted the principles, basis and methods of Shia exegesis.In this essay some parts of the article “Sheism and the Quran” has been translated, analyzed and criticized. The critic makes an effort to have a just assessment and scientific criticism of Bar Asher’s view points.The most important criticisms have been made on the following matters: Explanation of interpretative status of infallible Imams as the best interpreters, defending the great and prominent Shia interpretaters and the their role in the exegesis of the Quran, the frequent readings of the Quran, among the Muslims from early days until now as a single, purity of the Quran from alteration throughout the history of Shia, consensus of Shia scholars on forgery suras of “Noorian” and “Welayat”.
