Evaluation of the Quality of Library and Information Science Education: the case of Isfahan University and Isfahan University of Medical Sciences

Abstract:
The issue of improving the quality of university education is an integral part of the management of higher education. Library and Information Science Education as an academic discipline is of no exception. Hence, the main aim of this study is to measure the quality of Library and Information Science education at Isfahan University and Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. A descriptive- survey method was deployed. Servqual tool was used for data collection. Sample consisted of 134 students of Library and Information Science departments at Isfahan University and Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. Findings revealed a negative quality gap in all dimensions of Servqual. Quality of services at Isfahan University is better than the services at University of Medical Sciences. However, significant differences were not seen between the quality of services offered by the two Universities. The most negative quality gap was in the responsibility dimension in both universities. The least Negative gap was in Security and Tangibility dimensions respectively in Isfahan University and Isfahan University of Medical Sciences.
