Effect of Planting Density on Quantitative and Quality Traits of Unshiu Mandarin (Citrus inshiu) on Flying Dragon Rootstock

Message:
Abstract:
Flying dragon is one of the newest citrus rootstocks that is considered to be a promising dwarfing rootstock in the world. This experiment was conducted from 2005 to 2010 in the Astara research station to study planting density of Unshiu Mandarin grafted on flying dragon rootstock. This experiment was carried out with three planting spacing (4 × 4, 4 × 3, and 4 × 2m) and two trees in each treatment in randomized complete block design with three replications. Quantitative and quality traits of fruits as well as vegetative characteristics were recorded and analyzed. Except yield ha-1, no quantitative and quality characteristics of fruits as well as vegetative characteristics was affected by planting spacing. The highest yield ha-1 was obtained from 4 × 2 m planting spacing. Therefore, without any reduction in quantitative and quality traits of fruits, fruit yield of Unshiu Mandarin can be improved by increasing planting density.
