Survey the rate knowledge of women 20 years and older refer to the rural and urban clinical health on breast self examination and mammography, southern of Iran in the year of 2009

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancer in womenand caused 19%mortality from cancers. Treatment is successful If diagnosed in early stage. The aim of this survey was to determine the rate knowledge of women about symptoms of breast cancer, breast self examination and mammography. Method of study: This cross sectional-analytic study done on 615 married women 20 years and older. The data were collected by questionnaire. Data analysis done by software spss version 11. 5. And for data analysis descriptive statistics, non-parametric test Kruskal-Wallis and Mann Whitney, chi square test and if necethe fisher exact test was used to assessment the relationship between variables. In the survey the median knowledge score was53.3. Knowledge based on individual characteristics were compared that between the family history, employment and grade education were significantly relationship.

This survey shows the medium knowledge women and so raise knowledge of women in their hypersensitivity to do regular and right breast self-examination and mammography has a considerable impact. Therefore it seems necessary continuous education programs to promote women's knowledge about how to detect breast cancer, done regular and right breast self-examination. Article Authors:
