Abstract:
The running away from home by the young adults and teens, particularly young girls is a very important and complicated phenomenon which is accompanied by various types of social injuries such as poverty, discrimination, violence and annoyance, rejection and negligence of the family and tiny and limited access to the valuable social resources. According to a report by World Health Organization (WHO) more than one million teenagers between 12 to 19 years of age run away from home every year. The number of these young adults has a rising trend in Iran to the extent it has raised by as much as 20 times over the recent years. The present research surveys the pathological effects of the family on the flight of teenager girls from home. The case-witness study method based on the population has been used for collection of information. To this end samples have been taken from 10 centers of the welfare organization and prisons. The results of the research show that weak and unequal access to the valuable social resources, being parentless or having bad parents, divorce, inefficiency of social support network, abuse and harassment, rejection and negligence of family and weakness in social adjustment and dependence are among the factors involved in running away of girls from home.
