Identification and assessment of barriers for implementation of knowledge management using MADM & Gray approach (Case study: Gas Company of Yazd Province)

Abstract:

Knowledge management (KM) is one of the important components in a knowledge-based society. The twenty-first century, an organization that is not successful in effective knowledge management, will be faced with problems in growth and development activities. In this regard, there are factors that hinder the successful implementation of KM in an organization. The aim of this study is to identify these barriers and prioritizing them. The population is Gas Company of Yazd Province. This is an applied and analytical-surveing research. Literature, interviews, and questionnaires were used to gather data. The results of theoretical study, showed four cultural, technological, personal, and organizational factrs as the main barriers of knowledge management. To prioritize the barriers, TOPSIS techniques using gray theory was developed and used. The results of applying gray TOPSIS method shows that the major obstacle for KM is cultural barrier. However, individual, technological, and organizational barriers were in next ranks, respectively.
