Abstract:
Taking into consideration the fact that، one of the most challenging issues in Contemporary architecture and urbanism is to mediate the impact of universal civilizations and national cultures، the search for methods to create a synthesis of local achievements and new technological advances، is an effective step to be taken for solvng the mentioned crisis. The aim which will be followed in this paper based upon a interpretive-historical method. According to the results، while the history of regional trends in different fields such as architecture، politics، literature، etc Dates back to the ancient times، it was just after the 1980`s that it possessed a critical attitude toward chauvinistic nationalism، nostalgic historicism and rejection of technology. From this new point of view – which is known as critical regionalism – a helpful tool for changing the existent challenging situation is to possess a self-evaluating attitude and a critical approach toward any dogmas which seeks to uniform local traditions thoughtlessly. Furthermore making use of modern techniques such as de-familiarization in the field of design is also a practical strategy to achieve the above- mentioned goals.
