A Comparative Content Analysis of 2nd and 3rd Grades of Elementary School's Persian Literature Coursebooks of 1967 and 2008 with Regardto Civil Behavior Elements

Abstract:
Civil behavior implies confidence and respect to others or strangers. Development of civil behavior in contemporary societies that consist of millions of strangers has gained more importance. In economically, socially and politically developed societies this type of behavior plays a crucial role. The present paper evaluates manifestation of civil behavior in coursebooks of elementary school in Iran’s educational system. After enumeration of civil behavior categories, by using content analysis the content of 2nd and 3rd class Persian literature books are examined. The paper also makes a comparison between the present coursebook (2008) and the one taught before the 1979 Revolution (published in 1967). The conclusion section shows which aspects of civil behavior training are strong and which aspects are weak.
