Transit Airport Selection by Airlines, Using Advantage of Factor Analysis Method (IKIA Case Study)

Nowadays, passengers are turned into a lucrative income source for airports and airline companies. Incomes and functions of Arabian airport around the Persian Gulf (Dubai, Doha, …), concerning their weak points in comparison with Imam Khomeini airport according to the sea level, prevailing wind direction and in the most cases air distance reduction by using IKIA, shows that has an abundance potential for proper investment to achieve higher income. This research has been done through semi-organized interviews with experts and air transport managers for determining the effective parameters that led to the edition of a questionnaire in fourteen criterion which distributed among IKIA directors, commercial and aviation managers, leading airlines, air transport experts. The results were applied in the Factor Analysis portion of SPSS software that ultimately five final elements extracted to be able to set up a successful transit mode for those having a stop in this airport.
