Context and
Objective
The objective of applying this research is studying the relationship between emotional intelligence of police commanders and managers of Great Tehranand leadership styles and their job success.Procedure: The research procedure applied for analyzing the data of this study is correlative method. The population of this paper is consisted of all commander and managers of Police Force of Great Tehran serving in different staff units, deputies, police stations etc. a sample group consisted of 420 persons has been selected out of the different units of FATEB, deputies, police stations through random sampling and questionnaires of leadership styles of Luthans and transactional leadership styles, emotional intelligence and job success were filled by them. Out of this sample, 407 utilizable questionnaires were analyzed statistically.
Findings
The results indicated that a positive relationship exists between the emotional intelligence and its subscales and collaborative and transactional leadership style of commanders and managers of great Tehran, and negative relationship to authoritarian style. The other findings of this study indicated that a positive relationship exists between emotional intelligence and its subscales, and job success of commanders and managers of Police Force of Great Tehran. As well as, a positive relationship exists between collaborative and transactional leadership styles of police commanders and managers of Great Tehran and their job success and a negative relationship between authoritarian leadership style of police commanders and managers of Great Tehran and their job success. The other results of this study implied that a positive relationship exists between age, education and service years of police commanders and managers of Great Tehran and emotional intelligence and its subscales. One of the other findings of this study is existing positive relationship between age, education and service years of police commanders and managers of Great Tehran and collaborative and transactional leadership styles, and their negative relationship to the authoritarian leadership style. As well as, the results of this study indicated that a positive relationship exists between age, education, and service years of police commanders and managers of Great Tehran and their job success.
Conclusion
According to the summary of this research, it is concluded that the managers of high emotional intelligence benefit from more appropriate leadership styles for leading their employees and consequently the have the capability of understanding the others and managing the emotions and relationships of themselves to the others, rapid and exact evaluation of status, flexibility etc. that are required for successful and efficient leadership. As well as, the managers of older age and higher service records apply more the collaborative and transactional styles and relationship between these styles and job success has been proved, thus it is concluded that electing and applying the experienced managers with high emotional intelligent managers may be effective on the efficiency and their job success.
