Relation between Scrupulosity, Hopelessness and Personality Traits in Delinquent Juvenile in Adolescence Prison of West Azarbayjan Province

Belief and faith in God and doing religious acts and ceremonies by people have a effective role in mental and physical health and have important role in forming normal personality and life style and help them to cope with variety of mental and environmental stress. Thus in present research relation between being religious and performing religious ceremonies with hopelessness and personality traits in a group of juvenile prisoners of Adolescence Prison has been studied. Therefore 40 prisoners were selected as research sample and used PIOS Inventory for evaluating Scrupulosity, Beck Hopelessness Scale for evaluating hopelessness and Eysenck Adolescence Personality Inventory for evaluating personality traits. Results showed that sample age mean is 17 with SD 1.59. Also we found a negative significant correlation between Scrupulosity with hopelessness. Correlation between Scrupulosity with personality traits showed that there are a negative significant correlation between neurosis, psychosis and antisocial behaviors. The correlation between scrupulosity and Extraversion statistically, isn’t significant. In explanation of these findings we can conclude that the people paying more attention to religious acts and ceremonies and having strong beliefs: first, are more hopeful, second are in better mental health and have normal personality traits.
