Prevalence of Internet Addiction and Its Relationship with Demographic Characteristics among Allameh Tabatabai University Students
The purpose of this research is to study the prevalence of Internet addiction and its relationship with age, sex and education level among Allameh Tabatabai University students. For this purpose, 667 students who were internet users were selected by available sampling and took Young's Internet Addiction Test. 0.9 percent of the population were addicted to internet while 14.5 percent were at risk. The results showed that the prevalence of Internet addiction among Allameh Tabatabai University students is minimal compared to other available statistics. Moreover, the results of the meaningful test showed that the prevalence of Internet addiction in females and BA students is higher than males and MA students. Negative correlation between age and prevalence of Internet addiction also existed, but this relationship was not significant.
