Molecular detection of virulence genes (yhlA, yhlB) in the Yersinia ruckeri

Abstract:
The aim of the present study was detection of virulence genes (yhlA and yhlB) in the Yersinia ruckeri, causative agent of Enteric Red Mouth Disease in the rainbow trout. In this study fishes were sampled in 10-15gr in three regions of Chaharmahal va Bakhtyari Province (Kiar, Koohrang and Ardal). In each region three farms and in each farm five fish (totally 75) were randomly selected and were sent to the laboratory. The samples were identified using biochemical tests and PCR and detection of virulence genes was done. According to the results, 24 strains were identified as Yersinia ruckeri, and both virulence genes were detected in the isolates. yhlB and yhlA were found in 14 and 8 isolates, respectively and 5 samples contained both benes.
