Assessment of the Relationship Between Coping Styles with Stress and Mental Health based on Demographic Variables in Gilan's Drug Addiction Treatment
The purpose of the present study was to assess the relation between coping strategies with stress and mental health in outpatient drug addicts.
To do this, 251 individuals referring to self referral and private clinics in Gilan Province of Iran participated in the study and answered the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) and the Coping Strategy Questionnaire (C.S.Q).
Descriptive and inferential analysis of the data revealed no significant relationship between mental health and avoidant-focused strategy whereas problem-focused and emotion-focused strategies were significantly related with it. Also, there was a significant relationship between mental health and problem-focused coping strategy with regard to demographic variables.
The relationship between mental health status and coping strategies with stress are discussed in the present article.
