The Study of the Impact of Socio-economic Capital upon Nutrition among the Citizens of Tabriz

Adequate and healthy nutrition is one of the requirements of physical and mental health, it is an important factor and source in individual welfare and food security. Food insecurity is one of the major issues today, which has become one of the world development indicators. Therefore, the purpose of this study is aim of this study is to assessing the food insecurity among citizens of Tabriz. The sample size includes 385 citizens of Tabriz chosen through cluster sampling method. Results of study show that there is significant inverse relationship between food insecurity, social support and social participation, while there is no significant relationship between social trust and food insecurity. Findings of this study also show that there is a significant inverse relationship between food insecurity and economical capital. However, the economic capital and the quality of the food have a direct and significant relationship with each other, these findings show that food insecurity of citizens in terms of educational levels and their job are different. Regression results also showed that economic capital and social support can explain 25 percent of citizens’ food insecurity.
