Good and Evil Aspects and Animacy of Water in The Shahnameh

The good and the evil can be observed in almost all phenomena in Ancient Iran. Water، this resuscitative element، can be both devastating and healing or sometimes it can act even as water of death. Similar to most of the myths in Ancient Iran،this dichotomy is also present in the Shahnameh. Myths such as elixir (water) of life and The Story of Spring of Su are among the most striking examples of the dichotomy of water as a symbol in the Shahnameh. Moreover، associated with this topic are instances of water animism which can be observed in the Shahnameh، especially in The Story of Yazdgerd.
