British consulate in khorasan and its role in expanding the British influence on the south- east of Iran

Message:
Abstract:
The east of Iran had a special strategic importance in the 19th century and the importance of this region became twice with respect to the Russian and British political and colonialist expansionist’s and the threat to each other’s interests. The Russian for encroaching on the south regions and breaking the dead lock in the north regions, and the British for defending India intended to expand their influence on Iran. The weakness of Qajar government in international relations and to some extent the autonomy of the governmental dynasties in the east of Iran made it possible that each of these governments establish consulate and even send spy forces to the region. This article attempts to consider the condition of the competitions of these two colonialists and also the reflection of their activities in consular duties of the east and south east of Iran.
