Endodontic Management of Second Maxillary Molars with Two Palatal Canals

Presence of two palatal canals in the maxillary second molars is not prevalent and is reported to be 0.4-2%. In order to prevent missing this extra canal and failure of the root canal treatment, thorough knowledge of the root canal system is required. This article presents nonsurgical endodontic treatment of three maxillary second molars with two palatal canals. Radiographic interpretation is difficult in this region. Therefore, precise clinical examination of the pulpal space and the crown size is recommended to discover any unusual anatomic features like extra canals.
