Women Trafficking in Iranian Criminal Law and International Documents

Abstract:
Trafficking in persons, especially women and children are modern day slavery which is known as one of the manifestations of organized crime since the beginning of the 1990s. In recent years, it has become a global problem. Human Trafficking in the twenty-first century can be thought of as a new slave trade just like its former form in the nineteenth century. Hence, the need is felt to consider human trafficking as a crime in all countries. In this article the problem of trafficking in persons, usually aimed at women and children for sexual exploitation or trafficking, is discussed. Trafficking, as a criminal act which is punishable by law, has a long history, but because of the lack of detailed crime statistics of the real exchange rate, we cannot discuss its rate precisely. The present paper attempts to analyze the structure of this phenomenon in the international legal system and also to look beyond punitive measures and policies.
