Position of environmental law in international law of war

Importance and key role of environment in human life is undeniable. While war as one of the destructive human activities has caused environmental destruction and in fact this is the most important pillar of human survival has allocated minimal importance in international law. As we know techniques have employed during war can have destructive environmental impact, hence during war the environmental protection is as a part of international law, although environmental protection law still are not comprehensive but improving position of the environment represents in the international law of war. There are sporadic rules about environmental protection in international law of war during war. The most important of these rules be observed in (1977). Geneva and ENMOD convention.These treaties are contain general rules in the field of environmental protection during war such as ban of using tools and methods that makes extensive and severe and lasting effect on the environment. Finally, with revising rules related to the environmental protection during war can be concluded that these rules are not enough for protecting the most important element of human survival also need stronger enforcement. In addition, considering this fact when these rules come in to force that major power in the world is interested to them. We have to find way in order to reduce political influence in the international law about environmental protection and all the countries in the world obey it.
