Analyzing the Role of Human and Physical Instrument on Safety of Urban Roundabouts

Nowadays, in most parts of the world, the use of roundabouts has been widely spread because of their low costs of establishing and maintaining to that of Signalized intersections. However, Safety in roundabouts is a vital issue that is met through the especial tools and elements. One specific group of these versatile tools is Traffic signs in which roundabout square has a considerable function. In this research, an investigation has been done specifically on parameters that have influential roles in this regard. Hence, 527 drivers have been chosen randomly as subjects of this experiment and they are asked to complete some questionnaires. Furthermore, by analyzing and applying the classification and regression tree method (CART algorithm), positive results have been observed. The final result was that two parameters (i.e., drivers’ level of education and their profession) were correlated highly in comparison to the other parameters.
