A comparison of parenting styles and eating disorders in normal and bright students
The aim of the current research was to compare parenting styles and eating disorders in normal and bright students. The study design was a Ex post facto research. The population of current study included Ardebil guidance school students in 2012-2013 academic year. The study sample included 104 normal students which were selected by multilevel cluster sampling, and 104 bright students who matched with normal group. The materials used in the study were Baumrind parenting style and Coker and Roger eating habits questionnaires. The gathered data were analyzed by the use of SPSS software. The multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) showed that in eating habit subscales between the two group there isn’t any significant difference. And in parenting style subscales, there is significant difference between groups in fathers and mothers authoritarian parenting style (p<0/05), but not at other styles.
