Nuclear program and the possibility of strategic dialogue between Iran and America

This study investigates the fields of theoretical and practical possibility of establishing strategic and direct talks between Iran and U. S. and its security - political effects on the national interests and security of Iran. Prevailing view among the ruling political elite in Iran and America is that withthe profound ideological، political and strategic conflicts between the two countries in regional and world and also the lack of internal consensus، any direct and strategic dialogue between the two sides is not possible in current conditions. While the author accepts this view، he believes that at present،there are ideological and strategic conflicts between the two countries at the same time، however، the role of strategic conflicts has become stronger and is ongoing practically between the parties. Although these confilicts carry many challenges in the relations between the two countries، they have proximity capacities between the two so that for the first time direct dialogue fields between the parties have become more practical. For example، type and nature of the Islamic Republic>s nuclear program is such a kind that eventually puts Tehran and Washington in conditions of conflicand war or puts them in the status of interaction and dialogue. In writers opinion، local conditions and the existence of mutual strategic pushes both sides towards the second option، ie competitive and strategic interaction. In this research identification of possible areas of historical and thematic fields of strategic dialogue is studied and it also explores the should and should not issues of entrance to the strategic dialogue in areas of interests and national security and explored. The author concludes that the emphasison independent national and ideological sources in foreign policy strategy of Iran، evantually forces the U. S. to accept the role of regional and entrance to strategic dialogue with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
