Alternative Approaches for Strategy Designing in Uncertain Conditions (An Analytical -Comparative Approach)

Traditional approaches in strategic planning in confronting with environmental chaos and uncertainty don’t have appropriate flexibility and responsiveness. In current situation of uncertainty، many people and firms believe that strategy has lost its meaning and position. The reason for this situation is when the future is predictable then it is possible to apply common strategic approaches. But، when the future is not predictable and it faces uncertainty، such approaches are inapplicable and nonsense. Therefore، it is necessary to use the appropriate approaches according to uncertain conditions. This paper aims to introduce strategic planning approaches in uncertain conditions and review these approaches in comparative and analytical ways. Also، it provides practical example for each approach along with key message for managers accordingly.
