Design and Simulation of Trains Safe-Traffic Control Algorithm on Two Different Railway Networks

Message:
Abstract:
Improvements of trains control in a railway network may provide safety, reduction of delay and fine performance. Also Intersection points between the railway network is created by developing more railways with different contractors and operators. In this paper, an algorithm for controlling train traffic is designed based on variable block in such a way that not only safety is guaranteed but also headway is decreased. In this regard, a train movement in single railway, movement of consecutive trains and delay of information exchange and processing between two railways network with different operators is modeled and traffic algorithm is developed considering safety distance between trains. If the rail lines is blocked by a train due to malfunction, Algorithm is designed in such a way that after transferring failed train to branch line, variable block is redefined between another trains to compensate lost time. Finally, fine performance and safety of designed algorithm is demonstrated by simulation on three consecutive trains considering actual constraints.
