Message:
Abstract:
In the Islamic history, chivalry or magnanimity as a moral system is divided into two branches of practical (individual and social) and theoretical (compilation and writing of chivalrous letters and treatises). Sufistic chivalry that emerged from 3rd century AH was the outcome of reciprocal connection between chivalry and mysticism and its important branches. Sufi chivalry gradually transformed into aa political institution in 6th century and after the downfall of Abbasid Caliphate, during Mongols and Ilkhanid it permeated and expanded to different regions of Islamic world including Iran and Anatolia hence its ethical-general aspect overshadowed political aspect. During that period hospices turned into places of arrests and a large number of chivalrous books with mystic tendencies were written and compiled. With respect to the importance of the subject, this paper with descriptive-analytic method tries to the Sufis chivalry discourse in the Islamic history from the third to the eighth centuries A.H.
