Mass Media (Television) Influence on the Entrepreneurship Development

Abstract This paper aims to find answers to the critical question: how does television influence upon entrepreneurship development? In the current epoch، we confront dynamic competitions and urgent needs for innovation in order to subsist and gain success in all arenas of life. Entrepreneurship، in the meanwhile، can be the subject of meticulous attentions in this aspiration. The multi-dimensional issue، however، requires comprehensive considerations related to the governments-in drawing up macro-level policies and programs. One of the important approaches to develop entrepreneurship is media-based particularly TV-presented views. To answer the above question، a theoretical model based on the literature is specified and then qualitative content analysis is used to examine the model. This study selects 13 TV entrepreneurship-approached programs. The findings confirm that some TV programs are highly effective on entrepreneurship development. They include those program offering direct and indirect entrepreneurship teachings، narrating stories of successful entrepreneurs، covering entrepreneurship-contained news and incidents، presenting entrepreneurial patterns، broadcasting entrepreneurship-related movies and TV series، holding entrepreneurship-centered competitions and contests، arranging technical meetings with participation of entrepreneurs and governmental officials aimed at transferring experiences to audience and illustrating a picture of the life of entrepreneurs.
