An Inquiry into the Relationship between Power Structure in Family and Its Effectiveness

Abstract:
The present paper seeks to study the relationship between the structure of power distribution and its effectiveness in family in the view of Islamic teachings. The statistical universe includes all female teachers of Noorabad City in Lorestan Province. The sample includes 205 female teachers who were selected through cluster sampling. The research tools are a questionnaire with 79 items on family effectiveness and a questionnaire with 36 items on power structure in family. The results show that there is a positive and significant relationship between power structure in family and its effectiveness. Furthermore, gynecocratic (feminine) structure is the least effective structure among four structures (gynecocratic, democratic-gynecocratic, democratic (androcentric) masculine and androcentric). Democratic masculine structure is the most effective structure. The results of data analysis show that power structure in family justifies %9.1 of variance of family function. The research findings provide a clear explanation for previous different findings and are along with power structure based on Islamic teachings.
