Investigate the level of satisfaction of the BRT system (case study: line (3) (terminals of Elm-O-Sanat - Khavaran)

Development of proper public transport system in order to improve the quality of life for citizens is a great service. BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system is one of the new developed public transport systems. And using this system is growing increasingly. Tehran، like many cities in the world has been established a special “BRT lines” to take steps toward the development and improvement of methods of transportation. Despite the current problems of Tehran، the quality of this transport service can have a key role in reducing the problems. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the level of passengers’ satisfaction of the BRT system performance in the route from (terminals of Elm-O-Sanat to Khavaran). The research method is descriptive-analytical with an emphasis on field surveys، providing and completing questionnaires. The collected data were analysed using SPSS software. Survey shows that most people who use this system are employed with different income levels. In total، evaluation of the system performance indicates relative and average satisfaction of citizens from this transport system. Although in some cases such as access time to destination and reducing traffic، citizens’ satisfaction is high. And removing obstacles such as traffic nodes along the route، increasing security، improving the quality of buses (inside) could be an important factor in attracting more passengers and reducing the attractiveness of private car from citizens’ point of view.
