A Literary Review of Moeri's Daliye

Message:
Abstract:
Elegy is one of the independent themes of poetry that had has an important role in poems. Elegy is the result of the emotional experience of the poet, transferring the social, cultural, and religious condition, where he portrays his inner grief in losing his loved ones. In Arabic, elegy is divided in to three categories of Nadb, Tabeen and mourning. Among them mourning is superior in which the poet deals with the truth of life and death. Sometimes this kind of thinking makes the poet closer to philosophical meaning. Abolala Moeri (1059-1239), was a philosophical poet who ecelled in this technique. The best reason for this claim is his “Daliye” which is written for the loss of his contemporary friend. Through a descriptive analytical method and library research, the present paper analyses the ode in terms of four elements of meaning, emotion, imagination and style in this ode to pay. This study indicates that the chosen poem is the writer's best ode and it contains strong emotion and profound wisdom. There is a meaningful harmony among the poetical structure, words, themes, concepts, and imagination. Truthfully he weeps his friend's death; however, he attempts to color his emotions and feelings with reason and contemplation. The ode also contains some of the poet's ideas on the world, life, and death and includes moral messages for its audience.
