Environmental factors affecting the house burglary prevention

The place has a very important and unavoidable effect on commitment or prevention from crimes. The criminals choose the places for crime commitment that are more comfortable for committing crime andprobability of their finding and arresting at those areas to be lowly. The objective of this study is to examine the environmental factors affecting the house burglary prevention within the head police station of eastMashhad. The method used in this study is a descriptive survey and sampling population consists of police stations’ employees of east Mashhad head station all of which have been sampled. The data was collected by researcher-made questionnaire. The findings imply the significant relationship between environmental factors such as monitoring and observing, land use mixing, light status as well as passages and streets crowd and quietness, and house burglary within the head police station of east Mashhad. The summary of results shows that the environmental factors have significant effect on the house burglary within the studied area. Strengthening the various aspects of monitoring and supervision may have a considerable effect on reduction of burglary. Mixed land use increases the population density and weakens the monitoring aspects and subsequently increases the crimes such as house burglary, in return the streets light increases the informal social monitoring and consequently reduces the crimes. Ultimately, the crime and offence in a region has direct relationship with increase of population density in that region.
