Survey on Electrocoagulation process efficiency on Isfahan Composting plant Leachate treatment
Leachate of municipal waste، which often contains complex organic pollutants، ammonia، heavy metals، ammonium، chloride، suspended solids and dissolved or suspended in mineral salts and compounds، and bacteria، which adversely affects the environment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the variability of leachate treatment using electrocoagulation of the compost plant.
After the electrolysis، using a pair of electrodes، iron، aluminum and electrode commercial iron - aluminum، at different times of electrolysis (5، 10 and 20 minutes) and a dilution of 0. 1، 0. 025 and 0. 01 on samples of leachate parameters، EC، COD، pH، TSS and TDS before and after electrolysis were analyzed using standard methods. After analyzing the data، the average leachate quality parameters were compared by electrolysis.
Electro coagulation process is an effective way to eliminate or reduce pollutants in the leachate. With increasing time of electrolysis، the ions present in the sample، resulting in higher levels of EC and TDS increases. The increase of iron electrodes for aluminum electrode pairs. The removal of COD for the electrodes of Al-Al، Fe-Fe and Fe-Al، respectively، 93. 36%، 95. 15%، 94. 02% and the rate of removal of TSS، respectively 47. 3%، 37. 43%، 39. 86 % in 20 min electrolysis time at a concentration of 0. 1 was measured. COD removal within 20 minutes of contact time and solute 0. 025 for electrodes Al-Al، Fe-Fe and Fe-Al، respectively 97. 88%، 98. 08% and 98. 4% TSS removal rate for the 63. 65%، 44. 05% and 54. 86% respectively. A concentration of 0. 01 in 20 minutes of call time for COD removal electrodes Al-Al، Fe-Fe and Fe-Al، respectively، 99. 28%، 99. 32% and 99. 41 respectively 32% and TSS removal rates 74. 32%، 58. 78% and 65. 94% was achieved.
Electro coagulation process is an effective method for reducing pollutants in the leachate. The results showed that the removal efficiency of these parameters contact time is inversely correlated with increasing pH.
