Analyzing Pakistan's government and society threats against security of the Islamic Republic of Iran

In discussing security threats of Pakistan against I. R. Iran، analysts have paid attention to only one dimension of the threats so far، that is either the government of Pakistan or its society. This article tries to focus on both dimensions of this threat. First، the threats of Paki society which are originated from identity matters and appear in terms of Islamic Fundamentalism (anti-shi’ism) and irredentism (great Baluchistan)، are discussed based on the Constructivist theory. Then according to Neorealism، it has been proved that the conflicting benefits of Pakistan and Iran has facilitated the presence of The US and NATO forces in the area and also Pakistan’s nuclear threat for Iran is significant. In case of nuclear weapons also one may see two dimensions: state use of nuclear weapons against Iran and fundamentalist groups’ access to such weapons in the event of further instability of Pakistan government. Finally based on General Systems theory، the interaction of two realms in the form of transit of narcotics and Afghan problems (fundamentalism and terrorism)، in threatening Iran’s security is presented. The findings of this research reveal that considering Pakistan''s threats against national security of Iran needs understanding the complexities of social and political of situation of Pakistan.
