Effectiveness of Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy on depression and rumination in individual with one episode major depressive disorder: single-case design

Objectives
The aim of this study was to examine effectiveness of Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT (on depression symptoms and rumination in individual with major depressive disorder.
Method
MBCT was evaluated in 8 sessions across 4patients with major depressive disorder. A single case study design with multiple-baseline with follow-up at 1months was used to assess changes. We used Depression Questionnaire, Beck depression inventory and Rumination response scale as instruments.
Results
Results showed that the percentage improvement for total subjects in depressive symptoms and rumination was78% and 47%. This result was clinically significant for three patients.
Conclusion
it seemed that MBCT in the form of individualized sessions was an effective treatment in patient with major depressive disorder.
