Role of ICT in Knowledge Management (The Case of Imam Ali University)

Abstract:
Competition environment of organizations in this century enjoys unprecedented developments and complexities in the light of Nano-technology and IT. Mass of organizational information on one hand and necessity of creation, transfer and employment of knowledge in problem solving, planning and decision-making in knowledge management on the other have attracted the attention of managers. Given the fact that ICT is taken as an up-to-date knowledge in upgrading knowledge-based plans of defense organizations, Imam Ali University as a higher education institution (military and academic) bearing the responsibility of educating skilled human forces for various sectors of the Army of I.R. of Iran, attempts, through optimal utilization of ICT and reformation and improvement of its structures and processes, to play a successful and effective role in military and defense development. This study is concerned with the role of ICT in knowledge management. To this end, "knowledge creation" and "knowledge transfer" are considered as two main variables whose relation with ICT is addressed. Data analysis reveals that there is a significant relationship between ICT and the two variables.
