Studying the Opinions of Experts and People about the Effects of Vehicle Scrapping

Vehicle recycling is an important process regarding its effect on environment, safety, accident fatalities and city decoration. In this research vehicle the recycling situation in Iran is compared with USA, European Union, and Japan. A questionnaire is carried out to study the opinions of experts and other people regarding vehicle recycling in Iran. Questionnaires were distributed between police agents and technicians in recycling centers and other people during the second half of 1390 to the second half of 1391 in 10 provinces in Iran. Their answers show that, in their opinion, recycling old vehicles has a positive effect on reducing air pollution, increasing safety, reducing accident fatalities, and reducing fuel consumption. These effects can help the economic situation of the country. Considering the fact that vehicle recycling is a new operation in Iran, it is necessary to pay attention to the lessons learned from other countries promoting the idea, in order to prepare suitable policies and regulations to expand the recycling industry in Iran.
