Structural Equation Modeling of Organization Structure Influence on Knowledge Management Success

The purpose of this research is to model structural equation of organization structure influence on knowledge management success in Tehran municipality communication and information technology organization. This research is applied in target and descriptive metric in nature. The research statistical population is 400 people. Since this number consisted of all Tehran municipality communication and information technology organization, Morgan table is used to select 200 people as research sample. Two questionnaires were prepared and used. The first questionnaire appraises the organization structure in three dimensions of formalization, centralization and complexity and the second questionnaire appraises three dimensions of knowledge management such as creation, transmission and preservation of knowledge. The data of the questionnaires was analyzed using structural equation modeling by AMOS version 20 and SPSS version 19 software. The results of Structural equation indicated that two dimensions of formalization and centralization in organization with knowledge management dimension has inverse and meaningful relationship and organization complexity with knowledge management dimension has meaningful and direct relationship. Meaningfulness of relationship indicated that each of organization structure dimensions has influence over three dimensions of creation, transmission and preservation of knowledge in organization. Therefore less formalization and decentralized structure in Tehran municipality communication and information technology organization enables the organization members to cooperate and interact appropriately to implement knowledge management and increase in complexity and job skills in organization resulted that personnel voluntarily and spontaneously create, transmit and preserve knowledge.
