Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the reliability of the unmanned substations which operated remotely by dispatching center. In order to achieve this goal, this paper proposes a two step modeling method. At the first step, firstly we reviewed the reliability of substation equipment and its modeling. Then, by analyzing statistical reports, the stochastic behaviors of substation equipment were reviewed. The goal of this step is to investigate the behavior of equipment reliability parameters after applying unmanned operation if substations. This depends on the automation level, statistical studies and professional experience of engineers. In the second step, with the help of minimal cut-set method, the reliability of substation at two modes of operation of it (conventional & unmanned) has been studied. This paper shows that the level of reliability of unmanned substations is more than twice the level of reliability of conventional substations.
