The role of personality traits, coping styles and perceived social support in predicting psychological well-being

This study was aimed to investigate the role of personality traits, coping style and perceived social support in predicting students psychological well-being. In this correlational-descriptive study, 237 MA students of Humanistic and Social College of Tehran Research and Education University, were selected rondom sampling method. Data were collected by means of the five big personality factors(NEO-FFI) and the psychological well-being scales(RSWB-54), ways of coping styles (WOCQ), Zimet's perceived social support(MSPSS). Data were analyzed by SPSS (version 19) using step by step Regression at the significant level of P<0.05. personality traits predicted %54 variance of psychological well-being. Perceived social support %6 and coping styles %2 predicted the remaining variance of psychological well-being.Regarding the important role of personality traits in predicting psychological well-being, more attention to the role of educational statues in development of personality is essential.
