Citation analysis and the historiographic outline of scientific output in pathology from Middle Eastern countries

Abstract:
Purpose
To examine the contribution of Middle Eastern scientists to research in pathological sciences between the years 2000 and 2009 based on the Science Citation Index (SCI).Design/Methodology/Approach: Citation analysis.
Findings
Average annual growth in citations has been 15.25%; a total of 2,488 records are in eight formats. Historiographic outlines based on LCS and GCS included six and four clusters accordingly.
Conclusion
Only 2% of the entire scientific output in the pathological sciences belonged to Middle Eastern scientists.
