A Comparison of Spiritual Intelligence and Emotional Intelligence of College Students and Religious Students

Abstract:
Objectives
The aim of this study was to compare the spiritual intelligence and emotional intelligence of college and religious students.
Method
The population of this study included all college students and religious students in the city of Ardabil during the academic year 2012/2013. The sample size was 160 people (including 80 college students and 80 religious students) who were selected by multi-stage cluster random sampling. To collect the data, the Spiritual Intelligence Scale of King and Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire of Petrides & Furnham were used. Method of Cause-a comparison and analysis of the data, multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was used.

The results of the present survey indicate a significant differences (pConclusion
The results shows, differences between the two groups on spiritual intelligence, are not limited to Frequency of religious students, the rites and religious behavior. Instead, religious students in mental abilities related to spiritual intelligence, particularly in the critical existential thinking, personal meaning production, and even in terms of means in ability to stretch out in conscious state, have gained higher scores than college students. The authors of the paper conclude strengthening this both intelligences (spiritual and emotional intelligence) among these two impressive groups will result in a powerful and effective community.
