A Theoretical-Conceptual Exploration of Cultural Development from the Viewpoint of Sociology

The present paperis an attempt to develop a theoretical-conceptualmodel of cultural development using sociological ideas. To do so, therelationship between ‘common cultural core’ and ‘social action’ wasexplained, and the mechanism of cultural action in the modern society wasanalyzed. Then, the way culture changes was explained and analyzed withinthe same theoretical framework. To develop a theoretical framework ofcultural development, i.e. democratic construction of common cultural core,this theoretical effort defined the components of cultural development andpresented a theoretical model for it. Finally, the researcher proposed eightinterrelated components constituting cultural development, including culturalrichness, cultural innovation, cultural diversity, cultural interaction, culturalparticipation, cultural inclusion, cultural unity, and cultural reflexivity.
