Effect of sub lethal doses of CdCl2 on some blood parameters of stress in Juveniles of Acipenser persicus

The increasing levels of pollutants like heavy metals has destructive impact on aquatic organisms, ecosystems and indirectly on human life. The effect of sub lethal doses of CdCl2 (0.05, 0.1and 0.2 LC50) on some blood parameters of stress were investigated in Juveniles of Acipenser persicus during 14 days. The Result showed that the level of Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) increased significantly (P<0.05) from 225.5±4.5 to 262.7±6.4 IU/L during the first 4 days. This trend was also observed in Alanin Aminotransferase (ALT) (13±1- 30.67±1.52 IU/L) and Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) (1271±17.78-1496±6.08 U/L). A non-significant decrease was observed in the three aforesaid parameters from day 4 up to day 14 (P>0.05). Comparatively, the increased level of AST, ALT and LDH were found to be more at higher dose (0.2 LC50) than that of other sub-lethal doses. Glucose level showed a significant increase (P<0.05) up to day 4 and then indicated a moderate decrease up to day 14. The highest level of cortisol revealed on day 1 in the all studied treated dosages. Results showed that biochemical parameters can use as a promising biomarker for Cd contamination monitoring in Acipenser persicus.
